  • Over the past two and a half years, RPI has developed an expanding government relations consulting practice with a focus on national security issues (defense, intelligence, and homeland security). The company maintains an office in Washington, DC (on Capitol Hill). 
 
·         RPI Government Relations provides its clients with numerous services including:
    • Lobbying services for Congressional funding and policy initiatives
    • Non-lobbying consulting services to help clients keep a finger on the pulse of Congress and the agencies of the Executive Branch
    • Business development services with Federal agencies and private sector companies
    • Teaching services, based upon first hand experience, into the structure, procedures, and nuances of Congressional operations; with specific focus on the annual appropriations and authorization processes

  • RPI’s Government Relations team is spearheaded by two experienced professionals :
    • James D. Hensler is the former Staff Director and Chief Counsel of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as well as former Military Legislative Assistant to Alabama Senator Richard Shelby.  He has significant experience with the authorization of sensitive intelligence programs and with defense appropriations issues.  A former Naval Flight Officer, Jim is a licensed attorney with current and active security clearances.
 
    • Hugh N. (Rusty) Johnston is the former Deputy Staff Director and General Counsel of the House Armed Services Committee as well as professional staffer on the Senate Commerce Committee. A former U.S. Coast Guard operations officer and JAG, Rusty was also a Trial Attorney with U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Johnston is a graduate of the School of Law, College of William and Mary, and a member of the Virginia Bar.
